Chain O' Lakes, IL · Antioch, IL 60002 · 5 miles south of the Wisconsin border
I-94 South from Milwaukee to Kenosha, then west on IL-173 into Antioch. That's the entire route. No complex navigation, no toll maze, no mountain roads. Just 65 minutes and you're on the dock.
Illinois's Chain O' Lakes sits 5 miles south of the Wisconsin state line. Milwaukee guests cross at Kenosha and arrive at our dock in just over an hour, no traffic, no tollway, no resort fees. While Door County fills up in July and Wisconsin Dells runs at 200% capacity on holiday weekends, PLR offers private lakefront access on a quieter, less-crowded lake system at a fraction of the price.
Petite Lake is part of the Chain O' Lakes, Illinois's largest system of interconnected inland lakes spanning over 7,000 acres. The Chain connects more than six navigable lakes through the Fox River, with direct access from our private boat launch. For Wisconsin guests who know inland lake culture, the Chain will feel immediately familiar, but without the Wisconsin crowds and prices.
Illinois fishing licenses are available online through the IL DNR, a quick purchase before you arrive. Wisconsin residents fishing in Illinois waters need the standard Illinois resident non-resident fishing license.
PLR draws guests from across the Milwaukee metro area. If you're in any of these communities, the drive is shorter than most Wisconsin lake destinations:
From Kenosha and Pleasant Prairie, the closest Wisconsin communities to PLR, the drive is just 30 minutes. Compare that to driving north to Lake Geneva (45 min), Door County (3+ hours), or the Northwoods (4+ hours). PLR is Lake County IL's closest waterfront resort to Wisconsin, and it shows in our bookings, Wisconsin guests make up a significant share of our off-peak and shoulder season visitors.
Wisconsin guests know what a good lake weekend looks like. PLR delivers every element, water access, sauna culture, dog-friendly grounds, and a fire pit at the end of the day.
Wisconsin's sauna culture lives here too. Authentic Finnish-style 6-person Nordic cedar sauna with a Petite Lake view. Heat up and plunge in, year-round.
Groomed sandy shoreline with swim buoys, beach loungers, and shaded picnic tables right at the water. Private, not shared with a hotel full of guests.
Bring your Wisconsin-registered boat. Our concrete ramp handles boats up to 24 ft. Trailer parking included. Full Chain O' Lakes access from your private ramp.
Well-behaved dogs of all sizes welcome with prior notice. Direct lake swimming and dog-friendly trails at Chain O' Lakes State Park 15 minutes away.
Complimentary for all guests. Explore the Chain's backchannels and open water without renting a thing.
Stocked and ready every night. End your lake day the right way, fire pit, stars, and the quiet of Petite Lake after dark.
